Mark Kline, President and CEO - Mark is a veteran of 35 years in the condominium development and conversion business. During this time he has participated in the construction and/or conversion of over 30,000 residential units in every major market in the continental United States. He has held senior leadership positions with firms such as American Invsco, First Financial Equities, Pacwest Resources, and Madison Advisory prior to forming Madison Development Group. His activities have included involvement and responsibility for a complete array of duties including real estate ownership, management and sales with products ranging from multi-family garden style to high-rise residential units, multiple-use projects. His involvement has also included the development of over 3,500 single-family homes, land infrastructure development, retail and hospitality.

Mark holds a Bachelor Degree from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa and a Masters Degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He has been a 20 year member of the National Homebuilders Association, authored several articles in various trade publications pertaining to condominium conversion and has been a featured speaker on condominiums to civic and professional groups around the United States. Mark has been recognized on three separate publications of Who’s Who of Young Executives.

 

Christy Dutchman, EVP and Chief Financial Officer - Christy has worked with Mark directly or in a consulting capacity over the last 20 years. She is responsible for all accounting, financial and operational aspects of the company beginning with the due diligence phase through disposition. She was formerly the Chief Financial Officer for a regional developer in Southern California and Director of Underwriting for a mortgage banker specializing in single tenant triple-net leased real estate loans. Christy began her career in public accounting with Arthur Young before joining Imperial Savings where she gained extensive experience in troubled debt restructures, asset management, due diligence and underwriting of transactions. During the late 80’s and early 90’s she worked for several financial institutions focusing on in work-outs for troubled real estate asset.

Christy graduated from San Diego State University in 1980 with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. She is a Certified Public Accountant and licensed real estate broker.

 

Ron Merrill, EVP and General Counsel – Ron spent 25 years in the private practice of law with primary focus on real estate and financial institutional lending. Ron was a partner with the law firm Brownstein, Hyatt & Farber in Denver, Colorado, before joining Madison. His client base included numerous public and private developers and lenders. At Madison he is responsible for the various due diligence activities and acquisitions, as well as all legal matters affecting the company. Ron also oversees all aspects of conversion regulations of properties in multiple states.

Ron graduated with a bachelors degree in accounting from Brigham Young University, and then with a J.D. from Arizona State University.

 

Dan Houx, Vice President of Operations - Dan has held various positions in the building industry over the past 14 years. Before joining Madison he was a construction project manager for national homebuilders in Arizona and the Carolinas, as well project manager for a custom home builder. During this time period he was responsible for of construction for over 1,200 homes and apartments. Dan’s role in the construction phase of the development process spans contracting, implementation and construction budgets for each renovation project the company undertakes. He is a member of the due diligence team for all acquisitions and initial take over of new projects. Dan was a licensed general contractor in Arizona and has completed OSHA training courses. He graduated from Kemper Military School and College in 1990.

 

Buffy Kline, Senior Vice President Design - Buffy has been with the company since its inception and is an integral member of the due diligence, acquisition and refurbishment and design team for properties acquired by the company. In addition, she is responsible for the thematic concept and design of all model units and aesthetic appointments for the properties in Madison’s portfolio. Prior to joining the Madison team, she participated in three Parade of Homes, all of which were awarded the highest merits, including Best of Show and Best Interior Design. She has over ten years of experience in the field in all areas, including new home construction and design, renovation, interior selections, space-planning, custom drapery, soft-goods and bedding design, as well as full-concept home design and appointment. Buffy has a Bachelor degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder, as well as an Associate degree from the Colorado Institute of Art.

 

Mark Phelps, Vice President Acquisitions and Operations - Mark is responsible for due diligence, acquisitions, operations and HOA related matters. Before joining the company, Mark spent over 10 years in the commercial and multi-family real estate arena, with direct experience in mortgage lending, equity financing and underwriting. He spent 5 years as a real estate paralegal at the law firm Brownstein Hyatt & Farber in Denver, CO. He most recently served as a Financial Analyst for Paramount Financial Group providing pricing and underwriting for Low Income Tax Credit multi-family transactions. Mark also is a veteran of the U.S. Army.

 

Sharon Patton, Controller – Sharon has over 8 years experience in real estate accounting and finance and over 10 years experience in the investment accounting industry. She was previously the controller for a large environmental risk management real estate company and a fund controller for Oppenheimer Management Corporation. Sharon received her Masters Degree in Accounting from the University of Colorado. She is a Colorado licensed Certified Public Accountant.
